Tại sao bạn nên đọc bài này? Hiểu được lý thuyết cơ bản về thân cây bạn sẽ có vô số cách ứng dụng trong việc chiết, ghép, làm già vỏ cây, kích thích mầm ngủ v.v.

Cấu trúc thân cây bonsai

  • Vùng vỏ: là những tế bào phloem bị chết đi. Vỏ cây bảo vệ những tế bào mềm mại bên trong khỏi nhiệt độ quá cao hoặc quá thấp, khỏi côn trùng, muông thú v.v

  • Phloem: là lớp vận chuyển nhựa luyện từ lá đi xuống nuôi những phần khác của cây. Tốc độ vận chuyển nhựa luyện rất là chậm.

  • Tầng sinh mô: là một lớp tế bào mỏng manh, nhưng tốc độ phát triển của cây nhanh hay chậm hoàn toàn phụ thuộc vào nó. Nhiệm vụ của tầng này là sinh ra cả tế bào xylem và phloem. Đồng thời việc chiết ghép cành có thành công hay không hoàn toàn phụ thuộc vào tầng này.

  • Xylem: là lớp vận chuyển nhựa nguyên rễ cây hút được lên nuôi lá. Đó là nhóm những bó mạch gồm những ống nhỏ, giữ nhiệm vụ chuyển nước và muối khoáng từ rễ lên tới từng lá. Lá sẽ sử dụng năng lượng từ ánh sáng mặt trời để chuyển nhựa nguyện thành nhựa luyện. Nhựa luyện là thứ dùng để nuôi sống cây. Khi cần dự trữ (để dành tới mùa tăng trưởng sau) các tế bào của mô libe (tên khác của Phloem) sẽ chuyển nhựa luyện thành tinh bột.

  • Lõi gỗ: các tế bào lớp xylem sẽ dần bị thay thế bởi các tế bào trẻ hơn, và dần bị biến thành tế bào chết cứng ngắc chỉ có tác dụng làm cho thân cây được cứng cáp.

Những tia ngang ở giữa thân cây là những kho dự trữ tinh bột. Cách dự trữ tinh bột này nhanh chóng trong cả khâu cất trữ và lấy ra.

Nhiệm vụ sinh lý của thân

Thân cây là xa lộ vận chuyển dinh dưỡng giữa lá và rễ cây, đồng thời là nơi tích trữ dinh dưỡng dư thừa. Về mặt tải nhựa, hầu hết mọi loại cây đều giống nhau: Vận chuyển nhựa nguyên từ rễ lên lá và vận chuyển nhựa luyện từ lá xuống rễ.

Nhựa nguyên: Là nước có hòa tan một vài loại muối khoáng mà rễ cây lấy được. Ở đây nước chỉ đóng vai trò vận chuyển và hòa tan muối khoáng, đồng thời giúp cho lá và cành không bị héo rũ. Chỉ có thế thôi chứ nước không phải là thức ăn của cây nhé bạn. Khi nào mà nhựa nguyên được các “nhà máy” lá cây dùng năng lượng mặt trời chế biến thành nhựa luyện thì cây mới sử dụng được.

Nhựa luyện: đây mới thực sự là món giúp các tế bào của cây sinh sống. Khi nhựa luyện, hay chất đường, trở nên dư dả, cây sẽ tích trữ chất đường này bằng cách ép vài chục vài trăm phân tử đường lại thành một phân tử chắc nịch gọi là “tinh bột”. Nhờ chắc nịch, tinh bột chiếm rất ít chỗ và có thể được tích trữ lại trong rễ hoặc thân.

Do hiểu được đường đi của dinh dưỡng mà ta có được vô số phương pháp chiết, ghép, làm nụ hoa đào to v.v Ví dụ để làm nụ hoa đào to, từ đầu tháng 11 âm ta sẽ khoanh một vòng quanh cành đào để bóc đi lớp vỏ (dân ta gọi là “thiến” đào). Do đó mà nụ đào sẽ to hơn việc để tự nhiên một chút.

  2. Tạo nét mỹ thuật và thống nhất giữa các phần rễ, thân, tán lá. Ví dụ hãy nhìn thân cây này để thấy mối liên lạc hết sức chặt chẽ giữa cành, thân và rễ.

Các giai đoạn kiến tạo dáng cho thân

1. Kiến tạo dáng sơ khởi và làm thân to:

Giai đoạn khởi đầu này chủ yếu là nhắm tới những cây non. Bạn hãy xác định dáng thế của cây ngay khi bắt đầu trồng cây, cho dù đó là một cây phôi hay một cây con, thậm chí là một hạt cây (tin mình đi vì cách bạn gieo hạt và loại đất trồng có ảnh hưởng rất lớn tới việc hình thành bộ rễ). Đối với cây thông con dưới đây, chủ nhân đã uốn cây quá sớm khiến cây còi cọc do nhựa bị ứ đọng tại các điểm uốn. Đây là một sai lầm hay gặp ở những người mới chơi, bên dưới mình sẽ mô tả cách làm sao để thân cây vừa mau lớn vừa có dáng thế như mong muốn.

Phần thân tương lai là phần chúng ta sẽ giữ lại cho suốt đời cây bonsai. Phần thân mồi (sacrified branche) sẽ chỉ để giúp thân mập. Đến một giai đoạn nào đó, phần thân mồi đã xong nhiệm vụ, phần này sẽ được cắt bỏ.

Xem lại hình ảnh tương lai của cây non, các bạn để ý đến vòng tròn gần gốc cây bonsai. Đó là khu vực duy nhất chúng ta cần có trong suốt thời gian kiến tạo dáng sơ khởi cho thân cây (chúng ta gọi là khu vực A ).

Khi chỉ chú trọng kiến tạo khu vực A của thân và gốc cho giai đoạn sơ cấp, không có lý do gì khiến chúng ta phảiquấn dây phần thân mồi (trừ khi bạn có ý định chiết cành mồi để tạo một cây mới).

Nếu thân cây non được trồng hơi lệch và cành số 1 bên trái sẽ trở thành phần tiếp tục của thân (cành trở thành đỉnh cây) , lúc đó toàn bộ phần thân mồi được thả xổng sẽ làm rất tốt vai trò giúp thân mập nhanh.

Cách để cành mồi như thế này ta đạt được cả 2 mục đích:

  • Thân cây chóng lớn, gần như chúng ta vẫn thả xổng cây bình thường

  • Tạo đường gập cho thân (y như cách cắt giật trong phong cách chơi cây của miền Bắc ta, sự khác biệt ở đây chỉ là cành mồi)

Vậy khi nào chúng ta cắt bỏ cành mồi và cách cắt như thế nào?

Thời điểm cắt cành mồi phụ thuộc vào chủng loại cây. Đối với cây lá bản nói chung theo quan điểm của mình thì hãy cắt khi thân cây đạt 2/3 đường kính mong muốn.

Đối với cây lá kim mình cắt khi thân cây đạt 3/4 đường kính mong muốn. Tất cả các cây được cắt giật đều cần thêm thời gian nuôi cho độ lớn của thân cây chỗ cắt được hài hòa, hình dưới đây mô tả sự không tự nhiên trong nét chuyển lúc mới cắt:

Nếu cắt cành mồi ngay lập tức sát thân, sẽ có vài vấn đề xấu có thể xảy ra:

  • Mức nhựa thay đổi đột ngột: ứ nhựa (áp suất tăng vọt) hoặc giảm nhựa (do vết cắt “chảy máu” lâu).

  • Áp suất nhựa tăng giảm quá đột ngột có thể gây cho cây bị khựng phát triển hoặc gây tử vong.

Do đó , muốn cắt bỏ cành mồi và tránh những ảnh hưởng xấu tới sự phát triển của phần thân còn lại, chúng ta nên tiến hành cắt làm nhiều giai đoạn (tùy loại cây). Có thể 2 hoặc 3 giai đoạn. Mỗi giai đoạn cắt 1 phần cành (thân) mồi.

Làm như vậy, cây có thời gian thích ứng với thay đổi. Đồng thời hai chuyện tốt sẽ xảy ra:

  • Thân cây chuyển dần lượng nhựa sang phần thân chính. Lá ở phần thân chính có thời giờ để phát triển số lượng (hợp với áp suất nhựa khi cành mồi được cắt bỏ toàn phần ).

  • Quanh vết cắt cành mồi có thể sẽ có những mầm ngủ. Nếu những mầm này phát triển, chúng sẽ giúp khu vực vết cắt chóng liền sẹo.

Các giai đoạn cắt cành mồi có thể sẽ như sau:

Mở rộng: Làm bonsai nói chung đều phải từ từ, không thể chơi phát ăn ngay trong bất cứ giai đoạn nào. Ví dụthay đất tỉa rễ cũng cần làm 2 lần 1 năm, mỗi lần tỉa 1/4 góc quanh gốc cây. Hay tỉa lá cũng nên tỉa làm 2-3 đợt cách nhau khoảng 1 tuần.

Việc chia làm nhiều giai đoạn giúp cây thích nghi được với những thay đổi, chơi phát ăn ngay cây bonsai yêu quý của bạn có thể khựng lại không phát triển nửa năm, hoặc tiếp tục phát triển nửa năm rồi chết. (các giống thông tùng đều phải mất từ 3 tháng tới 6 tháng sau khi đụng dao kéo mới biết cây có sống được hay không)

Nguyên nhân nào làm cây mau lớn?

– Lá là nơi tổng hợp dinh dưỡng nuôi cây, cho nên nhiều lá tức là cây phát triển mạnh.

– Đủ nước, đủ dinh dưỡng, đủ ánh sáng: những điều này là đương nhiên rồi, ai cũng biết.

– Đủ gió, đủ “sạch”: Cây hút nước càng nhanh thì nhựa nguyên tải lên lá càng nhiều. Vậy làm thế nào để cây hút nước nhanh? Hãy đặt cây nơi nhiều gió & làm sạch lá thường xuyên để tăng khả năng thoát nước trên bề mặt lá, đồng thời đảm bảo đủ độ ẩm trong đất để cây không bị héo.

Lưu ý là làm cây luôn cần tâm niệm “dục tốc bất đạt”, kể cả việc đưa cây ra chỗ thoáng gió cũng phải từ từ. Tốt nhất là đưa cây từ chỗ kín gió ra chỗ thoáng vài ngày rồi lại cất vào nơi kín gió, làm vài lần cho cây quen đã rồi mới để hẳn cây ngoài nơi thoáng gió.

2. Kiến tạo dáng đường nét, sắc độ mỹ thuật:

Sau khi cắt cành mồi, dù là làm lũa đi nữa thì ít nhất mép cây cũng phải đang kéo sẹo nhìn mới tự nhiên và chứng tỏ được sức khỏe của cây, đừng chơi nguyên cái sẹo mới đục đẽo đi triển lãm nhé ^^ ít ra thì sẹo cũng nên như thế này:

Tiện đây cũng xin mô tả phương pháp bó rêu để tạo vỏ cây dầy & nứt nẻ:

  1. Dùng giấy nhám chà sát trên thân cây. Mục đích của việc này là tạo ra những vết xước nhưng đừng cạo quá sâu tới lớp gỗ hay làm bong mất lớp vỏ cây. Nếu bạn chăm chỉ thì chà luôn cả cành cây càng tốt.

  2. Dùng rêu bó quanh thân cây một lớp dày chừng 2cm, nếu không có rêu bạn dùng bất cứ loại thực vật đã chết nào cũng được (rễ bèo, rong v.v nhưng đừng dùng rơm/trấu/vải vóc do dễ bị nấm mốc). Quấn dây lỏng hoặc dùng lưới để cố định lớp rêu.

  3. Giữ cho thân cây luôn ẩm trong khoảng 1-2 năm. Bạn cần kiểm tra cây mỗi tháng và nếu thấy rễ cây phun ra thì tháo lớp rêu, cắt rễ và để vài ngày rồi bó rêu lại.

Mục đích của việc này là làm vỏ cây mềm và không bị bong đi, đồng thời lớp vỏ cây (libe) sẽ gắn kết với nhau chặt chẽ hơn giống như một tổ ong vậy.

Mối liên hệ giữa lá và vỏ cây

Nhiều lá thì cây sẽ to mới chỉ là một nửa của sự thật thôi. Nửa còn lại là nhiều lá thì vỏ cây sẽ dầy. Lý do là nếu nhiều lá thì nhiều nhựa luyện, nhựa luyện nhiều thì cần nhiều tế bào phloem vận chuyển và khi những tế bào này chết đi thì nó sẽ thành vỏ cây. Suy ra lá nhiều dẫn tới vỏ cây dày.

Những câu hỏi tại sao:

Khi đó tầng gỗ và tầng nhu mô có nhiệm vụ tải nhựa nguyên và nhựa luyện bị ảnh hưởng, gây tắc nghẽn một phần nhất định nên khả năng sẽ làm nhựa nguyên ứ đọng dưới phần dây uốn, càng gần gốc cành thì lượng nhựa nguyên tồn càng nhiều.

Ngược lại cho trường hợp nhựa luyện: tồn đọng phía trên dây uống và nhiều hơn về ngọn cành. Ngọn của cành sẽ thiếu hụt lượng nhựa nguyên cần thiết nên phát lệnh tạo rễ, lệnh này được đưa xuống và tại các vị trí mà nhựa luyện tồn đọng nhiều sẽ nhận lệnh và nếu đủ điều kiện: tối, ẩm (cây có hệ rễ khí phát triển mạnh thì không cần tối) thì sẽ phát rễ (để tìm nhựa nguyên).

Trong khi đó phần gốc cành nhận không đủ lượng nhựa luyện sẽ phát lệnh tạo chồi. Lệnh sẽ đưa đến các điểm tích tụ nhiều nhựa nguyên và đánh thức các mầm ngủ phát triển tạo chồi mới. (tổng hợp nhựa nguyên thành nhựa luyện).

Hỏi 3: Nên cắt bên trên hay bên dưới mầm ngủ để mầm dễ bật chồi non?

Hỏi: Với cách giải thích như câu hỏi trên, khi phần gốc bị cắt đứt đường dẫn nhựa luyện thì sẽ phát lệnh tạo chồi để tổng hợp nhựa luyện. Do đó mầm ngủ sẽ dễ bật ra hơn. Tức là nên cắt bên trên mầm ngủ. Việc cắt bên dưới như anh Bigbabol chỉ với mục đích làm ứ nhựa luyện để bật chồi thực chất là kích thích cho cây bật rễ, bởi vì thừa nhựa luyện mà. Mình cảm thấy khó khăn khi mô tả đường đi của nhựa tới chồi non, nhưng bạn cứ tưởng tượng như mạch máu trong người là ok rồi!
